Through the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), the government envisions the creation of a digital healthcare ecosystem in India that will enable Indians to digitally manage their and their families’ health from a centralized account with the ease of a mobile device.

With an aim to digitize various processes of the healthcare system, ABDM will bridge the gaps among stakeholders in the healthcare sector. Thus, ABDM endeavors to bring connected healthcare to all Indians.

Ease of access to digital healthcare services

Through easy registration and opening of an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), ABDM will bring about enhanced access and efficiency to healthcare systems in India, as it allows all citizens to avail numerous digital health services which will be available across its ecosystem. Users can also create different health accounts for family members, so managing your entire family’s health becomes simple and efficient.

Through apps integrated with ABDM such as JioHealthHub, users can book either online or in-person doctor consultations and avail various healthcare services.

ABDM enables interoperability and connectivity between hundreds of different digital health systems through registries of individuals, patients, healthcare professionals and healthcare facilities including hospitals, laboratories and pharmacies. In these registries, each of these entities is provided with a unique identifier across the ecosystem.

This unique identity is vital for identifying the respective entity (individual, doctor, hospital) in order to create connections within the ecosystem.

Go paperless with the power of digital

With ABDM and ABHA, there is no more hassle to store and carry around physical medical records such as diagnostic reports, prescriptions, discharge summaries, etc. Users will be able to link, securely store, access and share their medical records with their healthcare providers from their phones or online. So, there is no more worry about misplacing or losing your medical documents.

This will also enable users to build their health records online, and healthcare providers will be able to ensure appropriate treatment, follow-up and continuum of care. ABDM also ensures utmost privacy since users will be able to choose what to share with their healthcare providers, with their consent.

With the vision of a digital India, ABDM will bring the power of innovation and ease of access to the healthcare sector. Citizens from across all sectors of society can enjoy hassle-free, efficient, cost-effective and connected access to healthcare.
