The World Health Organization states that they got alerted of this specific virus on 31st of December 2019 following several cases of pneumonia frequently. Upon further investigation, they had come to the conclusion that this was something new. They did not have a clear picture of how it would start affecting the population.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that this disease is spreading in a person to person spree. It still remains unclear as to how the virus gets transmitted from one person to another.
Following a month of intensive research (still ongoing) on Novel Coronavirus, the World Health Organisation has offered standard recommendations as to how the general public can reduce exposure and prevent the transmission.
Here are a few recommendations that can help you stay safe.
- Hand wash
Make sure to keep your hands clean at all times. You can use alcohol-based hand sanitizers and soap whenever possible. - Cover your mouth
In case you are coughing or sneezing, make sure to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or at least your elbow on an off case. Make sure you wash it off properly and dispose the tissue. - Protect yourself
Avoid coming in contact with sick people. Especially people who are suffering from cold or cough. - Seek medical attention
If you are experiencing symptoms of fever, breathing difficulties or cough, it is advised that you seek medical attention at the earliest. Make sure to explain your symptoms in detail and share your travel history with them as well. - Take precautions
In case you are currently in an area that has started experiencing Novel Coronavirus cases, take precautions while visiting live markets. Try to avoid coming into unprotected contact with live animals. - Food safety
Please avoid the consumption of raw or not properly cooked animal products in any form. As per good food safety practice, dairy products, raw meat and uncooked animal organs should be handled with caution to make sure there is no cross-contamination.
