Walking to the laundry that is 5 minutes away seems like a pain whereas binge watching shows on Netflix is considered as an activity of leisure.
We are in no way implying that Netflix is a bad thing, however, what we are implying is that not indulging in regular physical exercise is a bad thing. Most of us see physical activity as a tedious task as we associate it with spending hours in the gym.

Physical activity is in no way confined to working out in the gym but depends on one’s body weight composition, lifestyle and daily schedule. The WHO recommends 60-150 minutes of physical exercise every week for people aged 6-65 years and that being said, taking a 15-minute walk in the open is also considered as physical activity.

Most of us don’t understand the value of physical activity as we are unable to witness the magic that it does inside our body. That’s why, we have made a list of all the ways physical activity helps your mind and body stay happy and healthy. Read on to witness the magic of physical activity:

Self confidence: Being fit is a fantastic feeling and there’s no fighting that! Knowing that you are investing time in yourself and getting results for the same gives you sense of self achievement. This constant sense of self achievement allows a person to feel good about themselves which shows in the form of self confidence. In addition to that, regular physical activity also improves posture and enhances the overall appearance of a person.

Willpower: Right from planning your workouts to completing them, physical exercise requires a lot of dedication and willpower. This willpower is developed by consistently sticking to your physical exercise routine and over time, you will notice that your willpower is implemented in all the other aspects of your life as well.

Balanced state of mind: Physical activity releases the feel-good chemicals ‘endorphins’ which increases the happiness levels of a person. In addition to that, physical activity is also imperative in keeping mental problems like anxiety and depression at a distance as it serves as a source of distraction and also eases the body and mind.

Lowers the risk of various chronic diseases: Physical exercise is known to lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases, cancer, heart attack, etc. In addition to that, physical activity is also known to regulate cholesterol levels and contributes to stronger bones and muscles.

Increases lifespan: German scientists reported that exercising reduced the mortality rate by 30-35% and increased life expectancy from 0.4 to 6.9 years. As physical exercise aids in overall mental and physical growth, it naturally increases your lifespan. Regular physical exercise coupled with a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle is imperative for a healthier and happier life.
